Industrial Automation Systems

From factory automation to air-cargo handling, logistic warehousing and distribution centres, parcel and postal services, courier sorting and drum handling, Inter-Roller's industrial applications have been successfully installed in many parts of Asia.

Our customers include multi-national companies like Hewlett Packard, Schenker Logistic, FedEx, DHL, UPS, Exxon Mobil and Shell.

Inter-Roller has a long established track record in the design, fabrication and installation of Unit Load Handling Systems. Close association with leading overseas principals has enabled us to provide sophisticated handling systems to different industrial sectors. These include Production Line Systems and many others.

These advanced products are boosting productivity and performance in many industrial plants. We will continue to provide advanced systems to support future industrial growth in this region.

Inter-Roller has a diverse base of customers for its industrial automation systems, ranging from the food and beverage industry where hygiene is of high concern; handling of toxic waste in chemical plant; handling of combustible items in petrochemical plants; handling of delicate materials in glass manufacturing plant to bulky material in industrial plants.

Drum Handling System

Inter-Roller's Drum Handling Systems are custom-designed, manufactured and installed according to our customer's special needs. Our clientele includes leading petrochemical companies, service terminals and the rapidly growing Edible Oils industry.

Our Drum Handling Systems are designed for the most stringent requirements in the explosive and corrosive nature of the refinery environment. The systems are manufactured under stringent quality control and safety standards. The flexibility in design means that different standards are applied for systems designed for other industries, such as the Edible Oils industry. Our technical expertise and professional services have ensured repeat orders from satisfied customers.

Drum Handling System for Bitumen-Filled Drums

Drums weighing 160kg each are conveyed to the berth-side feeding points for loading onto ships. The high temperature (60' C) and difficult (lumpy) characteristics of bitumen make it's handling difficult.

The design incorporates a unique bi-directional tilter that tilts the drums at a rate of 12 drums per minute. The air clutch controlled tilter ensures that drums are not damaged in high-speed tilting operation. A tipper using a pneumatic solenoid control valve then conveys the drums to the discharge bay. For easy identification purposes, a printing machine for labeling drums is integrated into the system.

Drum Handling System For Edible oils

Drums are conveyed on a 160m long feeding conveyor to the Y-module containing the storage and filling machines. The design capacity of this system is 300 drums per hour per Y-module.

The filling lines were specially designed to allow for easy future capacity expansion. Three Y-modular systems were built to bring the total plant capacity to 900 drums per hour.

Just-In-Time Drum Handling System

A Just-In-Time concept was applied for a Service Centre Drum Handling System. Empty drums are unloaded from trucks at a rate of 100 drums per 10-minute interval; with each of the 66 lines capable of accumulating 30 drums; stored in a space-saving
double-tier buffer storage area for 2000 drums, conveyed to the filling station where oil / chemicals are filled at a rate of 300 drums per hour; and the 350kg drums are finally transported to the loading area. The design achieves a high turnaround time of 20 minutes. This automated system is the largest in South-East Asia. It is highly efficient with reduced manpower requirements.
